Why should I prepare?

We have been given counsel....

Preparing for what is ahead

Prepare Against a Day of Want

There are “days of tribulation”[1] and “a troubling season fast approaching” [2], “times of extraordinary upheaval” [3]. “There are great calamities soon to befall the world” [4], “a day of trouble” [5].  A gathering unto one place has been decreed to prepare the hearts of those gathered and to be prepared in all things against the day of tribulation and desolation sent forth upon the wicked [6]. Preparing the heart has been the focus of our teachers. Physical preparation has not been a focus until just recently.

Stand Independent

We need to “stand independent” [7] of the surrounding society and culture rather than "remain inside a social and cultural construct…that is doomed to fail and be destroyed” [8]. “Preparing a place for gathering” will require many skills lost to urban dwellers: blacksmiths, carpenters, farmers, ranchers, electricians, plumbers, roofers”[9], “cultivating what you need to eat”, raising animals, having chickens that lay eggs [10].

Personal Responsibility

We were asked to each prayerfully “choose a needed skill and learn it” including “spinning thread, weaving fabric, producing paper, making cheese, drying fruit and vegetables, beekeeping and egg production”[11]. “We were told preparation needs to begin now”. That was 2019. How have we done at complying with this request?  More recently were told to “learn a trade": “cultivating the earth, tending flocks, forging metal, harvesting lumber, performing carpentry, weaving, sewing and a thousand needed tasks for surviving and prospering ”[12]. There are “many lost skills which we need to recover”[13]. Logically, the need to recover lost skills is because we will need those skills. Can you envision the nature of our society if we needed the lost skills listed above? A post early in 2021 included a focus on “family and provisions to care for them are our only true valuables”[14].

The Time is at Hand

From the time the land is in our possession until the land can support its residents will likely be more than a season or two. The average bearing age of fruit trees is as follows: apples – 4-5 years, sour or tart cherries and plums-3-5 years, pears- 4-6 years, hence the Chinese proverb, “the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago”. Enriching soil, training plow animals, putting up fences, protecting the animals from predators all takes time. Getting the Biggest Little Farm [15] in balance took seven years. Even with “endless labor” [16] the laborers of the land will need to consume their provisions until the land yields its bounty.  This document can serve as an aid to those who wish to gather provisions against a time of need.

This site is a work in progress...

The goal of this movement is to inspire, nudge, and urge those we love to begin working together to prepare for what is ahead. But don't take our word for it...

  • Ask God what YOU should be doing next.
  • Without an inquiry, one is not able to receive.
  • Once YOU get your answer, move forward–not in haste, but with Wisdom.

T&C 101:15: Let not your gathering be in haste or in flight, but let all things be prepared before you.
