Some water storage is essential to an emergency preparedness program. Here are ten commercially available containers to store water with their current (9/21) price on Amazon.
1. Reliance Products Aqua-Tainer 7 Gallon
The Reliance Products Aqua-Tainer is a $22.60, 7 gallons container with a spigot. It won’t stack. At 59 lbs it is potentially movable without emptying (if you have a good back).
2. Saratoga Farms
These 5 gallons containers are designed to be stacked. At 42 lbs and with a handle they are portable. The high density polyethylene also makes them very sturdy. However, at 2 for $55 they are expensive.
3. Legacy Premium 15 Gallon Water Storage Barrel
These containers hold 15 gallons, they are also made of density polyethylene. They require a bung wrenches to open them. Full they weigh 126 lbs.
4. Emergency Essentials Water Barrel 55 Gallon
This container hold 55 gallons and is made of high density polyethylene. It requires a bung wrench. It runs $85 if you can get it.
5. Norwesco 35 Gallon Horizontal Water Tank
This 35 gallon horizontal water tank made of high-density polyethylene has a place for a spigot making access to the water easier than the standard 55 gallon barrels. Shown in white, it does come in blue.
6. Legacy Premium 160 Gallon Stackable Water Tank
This 160 gallon water storage container is stackable. They come with a water treatment kit, connector valves and spigots.
7. Surewater Water Storage Tank
$89 not available on Amazon
This sturdy tank holds 260 gallons and at $89 is by far the most storage for the money. Shipping costs could be prohibitive so buy locally if possible.
8. iSpring pressurized Water Storage Tank
This 3.2 gallon water storage container fits neatly under the sink and is pressurized to allow for easy flow through a sink spigot.
9. LCI Plastic Water Can

This container is used by the army to supply water to troops in the field for decades because it is easy to transport and use. It has a simple simple screw on cap and a venting cap that allows for nice smooth pouring.
10. RomoTech Horizontal 125 Gallon

This 125 gallon horizontal water storage tank is made from heavy duty polyethylene. There are 2 channels to strap it down to keep this 1/2 ton monster from moving in a shake or flood.
